Question 1

Will a heat pump really keep my home warm in the Bay Area?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Modern cold-climate heat pumps work efficiently well below the temperatures we ever see on the Peninsula or in the South Bay. They heat in winter and cool in summer from a single, all-electric system — and they're far more efficient than an old gas furnace.

Question 2

What rebates are available for switching to a heat pump?

Accepted Answer

Quite a few. Depending on your city and utility, you may qualify for incentives through Tech Clean California, Silicon Valley Clean Energy, San Jose Clean Energy, Palo Alto Utilities, and Westlight Energy. Plum HVAC handles the paperwork and helps you stack every rebate your home qualifies for.

Question 3

Is a heat pump more expensive to run than gas?

Accepted Answer

For most Silicon Valley homes, no — especially once rebates and efficiency gains are factored in. Heat pumps move heat rather than burning fuel, so they deliver more comfort per dollar. We'll show you the real numbers for your home before you decide.

Question 4

How fast can you come out?

Accepted Answer

We offer same-day and next-day appointments across Silicon Valley and the Peninsula whenever our schedule allows. Call (650) 605-5986 for current availability — a real person, never a phone tree, will help you book.

Question 5

Do you charge for estimates?

Accepted Answer

Estimates for new systems and replacements are always free. For diagnostic visits we charge a transparent service fee that's shared with you up front and credited toward any repair you approve.

Question 6

How does your pricing work?

Accepted Answer

We quote the full price before any work begins — no surprises, no pressure. You'll always know what you're paying and why, and you'll have clear options to choose from.

Question 7

Do you offer financing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Through Wisetack you can finance up to $25,000 with interest-free options. The application is a soft credit check that won't affect your score, and you get a decision in seconds.

Question 8

How often should I service my HVAC system?

Accepted Answer

We recommend a tune-up once a year for a single heating-or-cooling system, and twice a year if you run a heat pump or AC and furnace year-round. Regular maintenance keeps efficiency high, prevents breakdowns, and protects your warranty.

Question 9

What's included in a maintenance plan?

Accepted Answer

Our plans include seasonal precision tune-ups, priority scheduling, discounts on repairs, and waived fees on higher tiers. Members also extend their labor warranty up to 12 years. See our Maintenance Plans page for details.

Question 10

Can you improve the air quality in my home?

Accepted Answer

Yes — from smart thermostats and high-efficiency filtration to ductwork repair and sealing, we offer indoor air quality solutions that make your home healthier and more comfortable, especially during wildfire season.

Question 11

Are you licensed and insured?
